WotF Q1 Results (Or, Wednesday Comes Early)

The finalists for Q1 of the Writers of the Future contest have finally been officially announced:

And guess what?  Go on, guess.

I made finalist again!

And my yay is immediately followed by the realization that I could still lose…again.

There’s an epic battle going on inside me right now: Ego vs. Realism.  I want to be confident in that old saying, third time’s a charm, but at the same time I know there are no guarantees.  My only option is to hope for the best, and get back to work.

For now I can be happy in my consistency.  I’ve been selected three times by two separate judges (this time by David Wolverton/Farland).  Even if I don’t win, I’m confident I can make finalist again.

And again.

Until I win…

Congrats to all the other finalists!  Especially my forum buds, Martin L. Shoemaker and Tina Smith!

P.S.  Since this is exciting news, this counts as my Wednesday post.  😉

Congrats on making it this far! Go with realism: hope for the best, know it can go either way, keep hoping, but plan your next entry. Compartmentalize that part of yourself that houses that voice. You know that voice. Lock it down. You don’t need it.

  2. Congrats Marina! A 3 time finalist means you’re doing something right, and you have what it takes regardless. Good luck and I’m hoping for the best!

  3. Congrats Marina! You’re going to make it happen. You’ve got the right attitude!

    Right! UNLESS…

Unless you make too many pro sales before that point. But then, that wouldn’t be bad either, would it? Congratulations!
