Places to Catch Me this Fall

Hello, all!  Just wanted to update you on my upcoming events schedule.

Saturday, October 20th, I’ll be at Fayetteville Barnes & Noble (Northwest Village Shopping Center, 4144 N College Ave, Fayetteville AR) for an all-day Bookfair event to help promote the True Lit festival!  (http://www.truelitfest.com/)  True Lit takes place this year from October 28th through November 4th, and encourages reading, writing, and storytelling across Fayetteville.  I’ll also have a signing from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

Keep an eye on my website for more True Lit related appearances.

Wednesday, October 24th, join me at Left Bank Books ( 399 North Euclid Ave. St. Louis, MO), 7:00pm, as part of the bookstore’s SF STL author-event series (https://www.left-bank.com/sfstl)!  I’ll be discussing Noumenon and Noumenon Infinity, and will have an open chat about speculative fiction with fellow author Thomas K. Carpenter (http://thomaskcarpenter.com/).

NOTE: The event is free, but Left Bank Books does require you to buy a copy of one of my books from their store to get in the signing line.  You can preorder directly from the bookstore here: https://www.left-bank.com/ (If you already have Noumenon + Infinity, perhaps purchase one as a gift, bring a friend who hasn’t bought the book yet, or request a copy of Aliens: Bug Hunt)

Saturday, November 3rd, Fayetteville Public Library (401 W Mountain St, Fayetteville, AR), 2:00-3:00pm.  I’ll be teaching a one-hour workshop on how to query a novel.  This is a condensed version of my typical two-hour workshop. Attendees will learn the basics of querying, including: what a query is, who it is for, how to write one, and how to send it.  Participants should have either a completed novel manuscript, or a partially completed (but thoroughly outlined) manuscript in order to fully participate in the class.  No need to bring the manuscript to the workshop (unless you’d like it for your own reference), just your intimate knowledge of the plot and characters.  Please contact the Fayetteville Public Library if you are interested in participating. https://www.faylib.org/

Happy reading, hope to see you soon!

Summer Workshops, Conventions, and Signings–Come See Me!

Noumenon Infinity is getting great advanced reviews! Kirkus called it “the genre at its very best.”

Infinity covers

The Harper Voyager US version drops August 14th, and the Harper Voyager UK version drops August 23rd.

In honor of the new release, I’ll be out and about in July and August. I hope you’ll come see me at one of the following events:

July 19th, Fayetteville Public Library (401 W Mountain St, Fayetteville, AR), 5:30pm-7:30pm. I’ll be teaching a two-hour workshop on how to query a novel. Participants will hear an interactive lecture on the basics of querying a novel, in which they will learn how to identify suitable agents, how to compose a query letter, and how to follow up with query submissions.  Participants will draft a query letter with my help and leave with additional reading on how to further their agent hunt.  Please see the library website for further details: https://www.faylib.org/

July 20th – 22nd, San Diego Comic Con (San Diego, CA). I will be a participant at this years SDCC! I’m super excited. Come find me at the Harper Voyager booth, or attend my Saturday afternoon panel “Fly Me to the Moon and Let Me Play Among Those Stars,” 1pm-2pm, room 28DE. Location and time subject to change, so be sure to double check the programming schedule once you arrive at the con: ComicCon 2018

August 14th, Nightbird Books (205 W Dickson St., Fayetteville, AR), 5pm-7pm. Come join me for NOUMENON INFINITY’s launch party! There will be cupcakes, there will be prizes, there will be a reading. There will be a whole lotta fun, and brand new books! http://www.nightbirdbooks.com/

August 16th -19th, WorldCon 76 (San Jose, CA). More convention shenanigans. No word on programming yet, but you can find me out and about at the dealers room, bar con, or at the Hugo Awards cheering on #teamDongWon. http://www.worldcon76.org/

August 25th, Little Rock Barnes & Noble (11500 Financial Centre Parkway, Little Rock, AR), I’ll be signing books starting at 1pm, along with cookbook author Dreux Antoine and possibly a third mystery guest (I’m not saying it might be Misti Kenison, but if confirmed, it’s Misti Kenison). https://stores.barnesandnoble.com/store/2658

That is my summer schedule. Don’t forget, I’ll have brand new NOUMENON INFINITY bookmarks with me as well! Shiny!

Happy reading!
